Affairs in Iraq:
In a previous newsletter, in ( May or June) 2003, immediately after the first phase of the Iraq war was over I stated that the second phase of the Iraq war would not be over soon. I said that it would take almost until the middle of 2005 before it would be called the end of the war. The Bush Administration has decided that they are going to install a new government in Baghdad on the 30th of June, 2004 but this new government will be a paper government. This government will not have the strength to stand on its own nor will it have the strength to rule the country. Therefore, the war in Iraq will continue.

This new government will face many internal challenges which will not be easily resolvable. Iraq will go through a major period of confusion and struggle following the installation of the new government. The warring factions in the country will continue to create problems and challenges to the authority of the government for months after June. Somehow though, there will be some sort of lull in the conflict by the end of the year. But once again, in the beginning of 2005, there will be reasons for an escalation of uprising amongst the people resisting the government and it may continue to be so until the end of July 2005. Therefore, there will not be any peace for Iraq until the end of December 2005.

Even though it is anticipated that Washington’s involvement in the governance of Iraq will supposedly be finished, the reality is that in spite of the new government creating its own army for the governance of the country it is not likely that the U. S. army will be withdrawn in the next one year. The intense battling within Iraq for the U. S. troops may be reduced in the last quarter of the year but their presence in the background will still remain to deal with emergency situations.

Moreover, according to the United States’ chart the Saturn sub-cycle will be operating in the major cycle of the Moon until 7/29/2004 which naturally means the warring influence is still very intense until this time. Thereafter, it is a Mercury sub-cycle operating from the end of July 2004 until December 2005. Mercury is situated in the 8th house from the rising sign and the 6th house from the Moon sign, which is a very unfavorable placement for Mercury and therefore it indicates that during this Mercury sub-cycle tensions will continue to be present and therefore peace will not be in sight. However, it may appear that the Mercury’s sub-cycle is better than the Saturn sub-cycle, but Mercury is still occupying the constellation of Saturn and therefore will bring conflicting situations. Superficially there may appear to be improvement and less trouble but there really will not be any true progress.

Affairs with North Korea:
Between the United States and North Korea there is a natural tendency for mistrust and disagreements as the North Koreans like to challenge America as a rule. This being the case, the tendency will always be there but from now onwards, until March 2005 there will be a reduction in the confrontational attitude of the North Koreans and they may be willing to cooperate in making some peace efforts.

Affairs with Iran:
Similarly, even though there is mistrust between the Iranian government and Washington which is not easily resolvable, as the year 2004 progresses beyond July 2004 there will be greater and smoother communication between the two governments which may result in more understanding.

Affairs with Pakistan:
It appears from the New Years chart between Washington and Pakistan, Pakistan will have a better relationship with the Bush administration. This relationship may bring some fruitful results between now and March 2005. Pakistan will feel well supported by the United States. The United States always supports authoritarian governments around the world and then gets into trouble.

Affairs with United Kingdom and Europe:
Traditionally the United Kingdom is a great ally of the United States and there is a great relationship between the two countries. This is a strong relationship therefore it has a certain power to stand the test of time. However, in the coming year it looks like there will be a certain amount of conflict of interests which might develop between the two countries which might result in some distancing between the two. Even then, since they are great friends, there is a certain amount of cooperation which will continue to exist as before.

Currently, there is a tendency among the European countries to have disagreements with the US policies and that will not only continue be so but will accelerate in the near future.

Osama Bin Laden:
As far as I know, the date and time of Osama bin Laden’s birth is unknown. However, I have chosen the date March 10, 1957 at 11:30pm, Jiddah, Saudi Arabia based on my observations from the newpapers about the activities of his life. I get Scorpio rising with Saturn in the rising sign, Mars in the 7th house, Moon in the 8th house in Gemini in the constellation of Ardra, ruled by Rahu. According to this he is passing through the major dasa of Mercury, bhukti of Venus until April 29th, 2006. Both Venus and Mercury are in Rahu’s constellation, Shatabishak. According to this, he is passing through Ashtama Shani (Saturn in the 8th house from the Ascendant), and he is also in the middle of Sade Sati which is filled with negative consequences.

According to this birth data, Osama bin Laden is likely to be traced and under surveillance in the month of July or between September 1st and October 15th. During this period if he is caught it will most likely be dead, he will not likely be caught alive.

Above are the general indication for the coming year and in the next newsletter we will discuss the United States presidential election.
