The following are the details of Mars’ transit
through Aries: Mars will be entering Aries on July 17th, 2005. It becomes
retrograde on October 2nd 2005 and on December 8th, 2005 it becomes direct.
Thereafter it moves forward and enters Taurus on February 5th, 2006. This coming transit of Mars is quite unusual. Mars normally stays in one sign for 45 days and then moves into the next sign. Even when Mars is retrograde, and it retrogrades approximately every 2 years, it does not stay in one house for the entire period of its retrogradation. In this particular instance it will be staying in Aries, in one sign, for the entire period. What makes this particularly unusual is the fact that this Mars is making a aspect onto Saturn in the fourth house for the entire period, and Saturn is mutually aspecting in return. Amongst other attributes, Mars is a planet of energy, effort, dynamism, activity and excitement. It brings the spirit of ambition, enthusiasm as well as competition and conflict. It is the commander-in-chief of the celestial bodies. Hot and fiery by nature, it is an incendiary planet. When it is transiting Aries all of these qualities become intensified because Aries is Mars’ own sign and therefore also fiery by nature. Especially in Aries, Mars is a planet of impatience and lacks maturity. Mars, during this transit in Aries, aspects Saturn which is transiting Cancer since the end of May 2005 and will continue to transit Cancer until the end of July 2007. Therefore there is a fierce battle going on between these two unfriendly planets which influences the whole world in one form or another. The nature of the battle between these planets brings out negative influences such as potential destruction by fire, accidents (either by land, sea or air), explosions, fear of terrorism, increase of existing battles as well as potential fears of new battles. There is also a greater possibility of natural calamities manifesting in some parts of the world. All of these negative influences will be felt most strongly during Mars’ retrograde transit in Aries. When looking at the chart of the United States, this mutual aspect occurs between the 5th and the 8th houses from the rising sign Sagittarius and between the 3rd and the 6th houses from the Moon’s sign Aquarius. These are difficult houses for the transits of both Mars and Saturn. Currently, the United States is running the major cycle of the Moon, sub-cycle of Mercury between July 29th, 2004 until December 29th, 2005 and the sub-cycle of Ketu begins in December and runs until July 29th, 2006. In the US chart, Mercury is placed in Cancer along with Rahu, and Ketu is in Capricorn. As it is, both Mercury and Rahu are weak planets in Cancer, therefore the current transit of Saturn through Cancer, aspected by Mars, makes them even more vulnerable. So, since we are in a Mercury sub-cycle until the end of 2005 the United States is vulnerable in areas related to Mercury’s influence in the chart. Mercury is the ruler of the 7th house of friends and enemies, as well as the ruler of the 10th house which indicates the status of business and economic activity. The weakened Mercury in the 8th house therefore brings loss of friends in the international arena as well as a lack of economic progress on the domestic front. Apart from the indications mentioned above, Mars is also the planet of economics. It is called the Bhoomi Karaka (indicator for the earth), therefore it will have influence on the economic aspects of this country including the real estate market. Even though everyone expects the market to go down in the U.S., I don’t think the prices are likely to go down substantially during this year. Rather it will maintain its current prices Mars is the planet of inflation, therefore during this transit there is potential for inflation in matters connected with petroleum, electricity, natural gas and all other matters associated with energy – which will naturally increases production costs. Mars is also the indicator for the labor force so it also bring increases in costs in this arena. Mars additionally is an indictor for defense expenditures so the U.S. can expect an increase in defense production. Mars related industries will therefore make good profits. Even though this appears to be difficult times, it also a positive time for those enterprising people who can brave the circumstances and push themselves forward. The nature of this Mars and Saturn combination is such that with struggle one can make progress. Return to Chakrapani's Website |
